Our Journey Through the Years
Explore the significant milestones that have shaped New Beginnings Church from its inception to the present day.

Founding Day
On March 9, 2008, New Beginnings Church held their first church service at the JP Jones Community Center with more than 60 souls present. During that service Elder Matthew Hampton was elected as Pastor, Elder Curtis White was elected as Assistant Pastor and Evangelist Regina Dark was selected as Church Mother. The JP Jones Center was our place of worship for the next three months where God truly moved.

Our Beginnings
June 15, 2008 Pastor Ray Seran at the Intercultural Assembly of God, currently known as South Fairbanks Assembly of God, opened their doors and gave New Beginnings Church family a place to worship and grow. Later that summer Pastor Seran left and Pastor Scott Mensch was installed as the new pastor and honored the arrangement between the two churches for two years.

New Church Home
August 15, 2010 New Beginnings Church moved into their new church home at 1500 Westwood Way.
On February 6, 2011, following a 21 day fast, a major move of God changed the direction of New Beginnings. Pastor Hampton was led by God to make the church an independent non-denominational church with the support of the congregation.

New Pastor
September 17, 2023 Pastor Linda Setterberg who had served as co- Pastor for several years, was selected as the Pastor of New Beginnings Church, her husband Michael Setterberg and Evangelist Gwen Scott are ministering as Elders. Keldrick Kearse and Shantel Hampton Lewis continued to serve with them as board members.
Soon after this pastoral installation Elder Matthew Hampton and First Lady Linda Hampton returned to their home state of Alabama. We continue to honor their leadership and care for the congregation. They faithfully served and continue to pray for us.

The Upper Room
In July 2025, the church left the building at 1500 Westwood Way and began meeting again at the JP Jones Center, renting storage and office space, and holding a worship service on Sunday mornings and Bible study on Wednesday nights in the “Upper Room”. It was the heart of our leadership to minister on the south side of Fairbanks following a dream given to Pastor Linda.
Through many storms, trials, and sickness, the church has remained steadfast to the mission set forth by the founders. We know that He who began a good work in us will continue to bless New Beginnings as we stay faithful.
